Kybella® is the first and only FDA-approved injection to improve the appearance of excessive fat below the chin. When injected, the active ingredient in Kybella permanently dissolves fat cells in the double chin area over the course of weeks to months. Kybella is a proprietary formulation of a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is naturally produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder and helps break down dietary fat. Kybella injections harness these properties to destroy the membranes of fat cells, which are then absorbed by the body.
